Our Airbnb host recommended we go to Trattoria del Borgo to eat. It was located in an old midievail village at the top of a hill with beautiful views. We parked about a 5 minute walk away. It was nice to walk up to the village and see the walls and the old road. Lunch was a great time to enjoy all of the greenery the outdoor tables afforded. We had an early reservation so it was quiet when we arrived.
They gave us some mortadella, bread and crackers to start. Then Kuah ate the tagliolini with fresh local mushrooms and I had the tagliatelle with traditional ragu of bologna. For his second course Kuah had oven cooked suckling pork ribs. I didn’t see any vegetable sides on the menu but I asked and they said they could make me up a vegetable plate. It ended up haveing some potato, celeriac pure, sweet potato, onion and tomato. I gave Kuah the onion but enjoyed the rest.
As a whole their menu was more to Kuah’s taste than mine. But I was really glad we had come because it was so enjoyable to be sitting outside enjoying the green views and the old architecture. After lunch we finished walking around the village and the Abby. There were hiking trails there but to be safe for my foot we decided to drive over to Modena instead.

In Modena we walked around a bit and then popped into a balsamic vinegar shop to do some tasting. We found that we liked both the black and white vinegar. As the brand they were selling is also available in the US we decided not to buy any for our suitcase.
