We had a beautiful sunny day for our final day in Lucerne. We knew we were going to have a big lunch so we started off early with a walk. In total we walked 17.78 miles on our last day. It started with a walk up to see the walls around the city. We had seen them from afar the day before so we wanted to hike up and see what the views were like.

From there we headed to the Old Swiss House where we planned to have lunch. The building was built in 1858 and it became a restaurant in 1931. It has many pictures of the dignitaries who’ve eaten there. It was a nice day outside but we chose to sit inside as the atmosphere was fun with lots of heirloom decor. Our table had an old toaster on it.
The specialty there is the Veal Escalope which they prepare at the table. Since Kuah ordered it I got to enjoy watching it get made. I was a bit shocked by the huge amount of butter that was in the dish but it was fun watching them prepare it.

I chose to have a lighter lunch as we planned to walk to a chocolate factory after lunch. It was in the low 80s but the walk ended up being in direct sunlight the whole way. At the beginning of the walk we were by some fun buildings and passed one of the many fountains that are in Lucerne. But about halfway through we ended up on a path by the railroad tracks. This wasn’t really a great view but keeping the destination in mind we continued on. Kuah was a real trooper as he’s not really so into chocolate. He went just for me.
Upon reaching the chocolate factory I was hot, sweaty and ready to relax. I ordered a cold drink and a few chocolates and sat down to cool off. Later, as I took the tour I realized I shouldn’t have eaten any chocolates earlier. Included in the tour is unlimited chocolate tastings. I took full advantage feeling I needed to get energized for the walk home. The one chocolate you couldn’t taste test was the sculpture of Lurcerne.

All in all we had a wonderful last day with lots of walking and eating. I’m so happy Kuah picked this city as one of the places to visit during our trip.
