We had one more walking adventure at Lake Como. This time we took the funicular up and then hiked to some small towns. We thought the walk would be easy but the beginning was a tough hike. Once again we found ourselves dangerously close to the edge. Thankfully it wasn’t as stressful as our Austrian experience.
Once we got to the towns the walk was really fun. There were lots of old buildings and small paths through them. Halfway through our planned walk we decided to take a boat to the next town to make sure we didn’t run our of time. The next town had a nice waterfall but was really small. It made us glad that we hadn’t chosen to stay there.

Unfortunately, the boat did not come back when it was supposed to. We waited an hour and there was still no sign. We were saved by the Hilton when I called and they arranged for a driver to come and pick us up. Surprisingly our driver arrived in a Maserati which made the ride back more fun. We got back in time to make our dinner reservation but found that it really wasn’t worth the rush. The atmosphere in the restaurant was really cute but the food wasn’t up to par with our other Italian meals.
We had a low key final day. We walked around the Lake Como town and had lunch at Ristorante La Colombetta. They did a really smart thing there by coming over and offering a glass of champagne when we sat down. I hadn’t planned on drinking any alcohol but found myself saying yes and enjoying it. The restaurant was very classy inside but still comfortable. We had trouble not eating all the bread and saving room for lunch but we’re glad we did. Although there was nothing we ate that was super amazing it was overall a really enjoyable meal. In fact we enjoyed it so much we didn’t pause in eating to take any pictures.
After spending more time walking around we went back to our hotel to relax. We thought about skipping dinner but couldn’t leave Italy without having pizza. Our hotel had a cute little pizza cart in front that was making fresh pizzas so Kuah and I got one to share. We sat in front of the hotel and enjoyed the view while eating fresh pizza.
