This was our second planned hike and our first to a new location. It was about 14 miles long. My app said that by the end of the day we had climbed 151 flights of stairs.
It started out with a ride up a cable car. Here’s Kuah in his rain gear on the cable car.
We both had rain pants and raincoats. I was also wearing wet sox which helped keep my feet dry. However, even with all of the rain protection I was whiney the first half of the hike. I found that I don’t really enjoy hiking in the rain. And my raincoat, leaked so I was not well protected.
The hike covered a wide variety of terrain, from small paths to wide roads both uphill and downhill. Here’s a look at one of the paths. You can see the red and white spray paint on one of the rocks that marks the path.
Thankfully the weather cleared up partway through and I was able to enjoy the second half of the hike. We hiked over beautiful streams, past pastures and overlooked valleys. There was a fog much of the day which made the sights seem like something from a fantasy novel.
We had printed directions that were sometimes difficult to follow. We went the wrong way once, which adde a mile to our trip, but we were there to hike so it wasn’t an issue.
The signposts were sometimes helpful and other times not. What was certainly helpful was Kuah helping me carry my pack part of the way. It’s nice to have a strong husband.
