This was by far my favorite hike. The weather was beautiful and the hike easy. We walked close to 16 miles and my app said we climbed 84 flights of stairs.
It was one of those hikes where I saw something beautiful in every direction. I looked right and thought, WOW SO BEAUTIFUL then I looked left and thought AMAZING. One of the things we found is that they really do use cow bells in the Austrian Alps. Cows were grazing throughout the alps and you could hear the tinkling of the cow bells.
When we got to Postalp we were happy to find a great restaurant that had internet and took credit cards. These were 2 things that are difficult to find in the alps. We checked on work and had a great lunch.
It was right next to a bust stop. When we arrived it was really busy but a short while later it was dead. Then another wave of people came and went. By the third wave I figured that it was bus loads of people coming for lunch with their tour groups.
After our hike we went to check out our new accommodations. Unlike the last place this chalet’s owners were not friendly to us at all. It was an awkward check in experience. The room was tiny and although we had a sink in our room there was no shower and the toilet was shared.
This helped us cement our plans to head back to Lake Wolfgang one day early and enjoy the lake rather than sleep in that chalet a second night.
