As it was near time for Mom to depart we wanted to get one more adventure in but didn’t want to drive too far or have to walk steep streets. We found the town of Foligno. Located in the lowland of Umbria it is different than the hillside villages. Foligno has a lot of history having been founded before the year 1000. I had at times been under both Roman and papal control. In researching it I found it to be a place with more local than foreign visitors.
I wasn’t sure what to expect but ended up loving the city. It wasn’t very crowded so we were able to explore the main streets and the little alleyways. This area is famous for its cashmere and I bought an orange sweater that was really cute.
Mom had researched Foligno while we were visiting towns the day before. So on her recommendation we made a reservation for a cute little restaurant called, Cuore Piccante Osteria. It was a really warmhearted restaurant with the menu written on the wall. We used Google translate to figure out what we wanted to eat. For me it was another delicious and healthy meal. We started with a soup amuse bouche. Then Kuah ordered the fried squash blossoms for us all to share. Mom and I had the octopus with vegetables for our main meal. Kuah had a pasta dish. After the meal Kuah got a cappuccino that came with homemade chocolates which I stole and ate, yummy.

After lunch we walked around a bit more and then hopped in the car to finish Mom’s Italian bucket list. First was to the cashmere outlet. Here she was able to find a great sweater for herself and a present for her friend. Next up the gelato shop. After many taste tests Mom picked her flavors and we joined her outside to enjoy our gelato. From there we headed home to start packing up.
