Miles Walked: 10
If you’ve visited Singapore before you already know that Clarke Quay and the Cable Car usually don’t go together. But, Kuah and I like long walks and sometimes change directions partway through our walk. So this time we headed first to Clarke Quay and then walked to Vivio City where we took the cable car up to Mt. Faber.
We had lunch in the Clarke Quay area. Not right in the center of the craziness but still along the river. We stopped at my favorite Dong Bei restaurant and shared some of my favorite northeastern Chinese dishes.
We had Jing Jiang Rou si. This is served with flour pancakes. You put the shredded pork, cucumbers and green onion into the pancake and then wrap it like a burrito or taco.
- Pork on veggies and wraps
- Step one
- Final yummy wrap
We also enjoyed some homemade noodles stir fried with cumin and veggies, ma po dou fu and grilled bread stuffed with pork. The noodles and ma po dou fu delicious but the grilled bread with pork was not near as good as in China. The bread was a bit tough and the pork a bit too salty.
The view here was really fun because of all the clouds in the sky. I love cloudy days here as it means the weather is not as hot. We were lucky to get the clouds without the rain for our walk.
After breakfast we headed towards Vivo city. Was passed a few fun things along the way and stopped to take pictures to balance all the food pics I load into these blogs. First we passed a temple that looked like a movie scene with the clouds above it. If only they didn’t have an advertising banner out front.
Next we passed this hardworking guy who never takes a break. He just stands there 24/7 holding his light to warn traffic of upcoming construction. I bet his feet don’t even hurt!
Once we got to Vivo City I decided it was too dark to climb up Mt. Faber. I had tried it once before and was creeped out by all the animal noises and not being able to see where I was going. So we bought cable card passes and took the cable card up. It was a better deal to get year passes so we plan to do this a lot over the next year, want to make sure we get our money’s worth.
Once on top of Mt. Faber we went through Henderson Waves and the Tree Top walk and then on home. I’ll have to take some pictures of Henderson Waves and the Tree Top walk next time. But here’s a shot of us in the cable car and the view from top of Mt. Faber.
