On one of our final days of the trip I dragged Kuah out to St. Stephen’s Basilica. We had walked by the outside of the building several times but I wanted to see the inside. As it was a Tuesday it wasn’t very busy so we decided to go in. Once inside we were treated . . . read more

Kuah and I have had so many delicious meals and snacks around town. Not all of them need their own blog so I’m combining some here. This restaurant was super duper cute inside. I say this restaurant because I forgot to write down the name. Here Kuah had his first stuffed cabbage in Hungary. I . . . read more

If you know me you may be surprised by the fact that I went to a place called House of Terror. I hate horror movies and scary things. But I do think it is important to understand some of the tougher parts of history so that, hopefully, it can be avoided in the future. Taking . . . read more

When I’m on vacation I like to walk 5-10 miles a day. Often this means I get up early and do a walk by myself and then go out later for another walk with Kuah. As I’m a morning person and he’s not this works out beautifully. This blog is going to be all over . . . read more

Over the years as Kuah and I have changed so have our travels. One of the big changes is that we go to bed early. Kuah doesn’t often eat dinner, and I usually eat it late afternoon. While this schedule is perfect for my morning walks it did mean that we might miss out on . . . read more

We took our third and final trip out of Budapest this week. Kuah drove us to Lake Heviz. Why Lake Heviz? Well, it is a thermal lake. And it’s not just any thermal lake but the largest swimable thermal lake in the world. The largest thermal lake is Frying Pan Lake in New Zealand but . . . read more

Kuah and I had a free night at an IHG hotel to use so we decided to plan a weekend in Vienna. We took the train from Budapest to Vienna. It was an easy trip, only 2.5 hours. We were lucky in that we could walk to a subway that took us directly to the . . . read more

Today I went on a tour of the Hungarian Parliament. It is a really a beautiful and ornate building. When originally built the Hungarian government had 2 houses. Therefore it was built with 2 symmetrical sides, one side for the lower house and the other for the upper house. After changing to one party under . . . read more

June 21, 2024

This week we rented a car and Kuah drove us 2 and a half hours to Lillafured. Hungarians drive on the right side of the road so that made the driving easier. We hit some traffic but overall it was smooth sailing. We started off stopping at a trout restaurant, Vendeglo A Pisztrangoshoz, for lunch. . . . read more
