This famous cafe has a long history in Vienna. It also, thankfully, has air conditioning. It’s been in the 90’s quite a bit while we’ve been in Vienna and our apartment doesn’t have AC. So, we are always happy to visit a place that does.
We made 2 trips to Cafe Central so far. One for lunch and another for breakfast. The cake you’ll see in the picture below was my very naughty breakfast. It consists of brownie, raspberry, chocolate mouse and marshmallow. And it was delicious enough to be worth every calorie!
Speaking of naughty Kuah had a coffee with ice cream in it the first time we visited. He also ordered the Kaiserschmarn which is described as torn pancake with stewed plums. I found it to be more of a torn raisin bread. Although it is one of their key desserts I didn’t find it to be worth the calories so had only 1 bite.
We tried a few savory dished there as well. Kuah had a duck egg roll and I had pear soup with chili. Although it sounded interesting the pear soup didn’t end up being to my taste. Maybe I need to stick with the cakes at Cafe Central.
Cafe Central is located in Old Town. This area is chock full of pedestrian only streets, old buildings, fountains, sculptures, statues and history. Here are a few things we’ve seen while walking around the Old Town area.
