Kuah and I are going to try and visit different hawker centers and coffee shops each weekend in combination with VERY long walks.
Miles Walked: 13
Hawker Center & Restaurants visited: Boon Lay Place Market & Ten Sushi & Bar
We started our day by taking the MRT to the Boon Lay MRT station and then walking to the Boon Lay Place Food Village. Here we enjoyed some Hokkien Prawn Mee. I previously did not enjoy this dish thinking it was very bland. But this year I’ve been upping my spicy food intake in order to speed up my metabolism. The bonus was I could now mix in the chili sauce which made it so delicious. Singapore has different chili sauces to go with different dishes, many of them have really unique flavors. I especially like the ones with lots of garlic or vinegar.
To add a little healthy into the mix Kuah also ordered an ABC juice (apple, beet & carrot). There are loads of juice places in Singapore. They can be found in hawker centers and malls. I usually visit the tea places instead. I really like iced green tea with Yakult. You should try making one at home.
Unfortunately, as we were eating it started pouring outside. So we had a take a cab to the nearest mall, which was Jem. We walked around Jem for about an hour and it finally stopped raining. So we finally got to walk back to Tiong Bahru, which was a very long walk. Along the way we spotted this really cool flower. I wasn’t sure how the picture would come out as it was dark out but I think they came out well.
Closer to home it was time for lunch. Yes, our schedule is weird so we got up at 4 pm to start our day and then ate lunch around midnight or 1 am. We were at the Riverwalk and decided to stop at this cute outdoor sushi bar. Look at this super refreshing drink I had. Doesn’t it look yummy!
But it was only iced green tea. After perusing the menu we decided to share a Calico Sour. You can see it here along with my maki rolls and garlic salad.
Kuah actually likes raw fish so he enjoyed their sushi. It was a fun presentation on a long board.
After this we walked the rest of the way home and rested our weary feet.
