After our rest day we were ready to tackle one of the mountains. This hike was 7.87 miles. We did in in 3.5 hours and it had an elevation of 1,845 feet. One thing we noticed on this hike was how many families with small children were biking up and down the mountain. The locals definitely start building great nature and fitness habits at a young age. Everyone also greets you as the hike or bike past you.

We knew this hike would be steeper than our previous ones so we had our hiking poles with us for the first time. At first it was hard to get into the rhythm of using them but after a while I found them to be very helpful. My poles were a little lighter than Kuah’s which over time ended up making a big difference.
The hike offered a nice mix of shade and sun. We had shade on the hike up and down but at the top of our hike got a nice stretch in the sun as well. There we also saw some cows, which did have cowbells.

After the hike we stopped for a nice meal and then headed to our hotel. Out hotel room was really hot which made it difficult to sleep. It cooled down at night but there were no screens so we had to keep the curtains closed to keep the bugs out. They did have our favorite breakfast buffet. Knowing I’d be hiking all day I got to enjoy the pastries along with my eggs. Kuah enjoyed the food including fresh made omelettes and cappuccino. We also had a nice balcony in our room to relax on. Here are a few pictures taken from our hotel balcony.
