We had a fun day in Boston and Mira did more walking than she had ever done before. It started out with lunch at Legal seafood by the Warf. Mira was the winner of this meal. She ordered the Spicy Salmon Oshizushi. It was different than other presentations of pressed sushi I’ve seen but really cute. The sushi rice was pressed into little cups and then filled with the salmon sushi. Although it was marked as spicy Mira said it didn’t taste spicy at all. She absolutely loved it.
The rest of us thought our dishes were ok but not rave worthy. Kuah got a crab roll that was pretty much tasteless and some fried clams. I had a lobster roll and Dennis got some fish tacos. The nice thing about this was we weren’t tempted to overeat.

We also enjoyed a walk along the warf. the weather was beautiful and it was a nice change of scenery from Dallas. As it was a Monday the tourist areas were fairly quiet. We did run into a nice tourist who took a picture of all of us together.

Yup, that’s me with the pink hat and the hip pack. I absolutely love my hip pack. It’s much cooler than a backpack, which always ends up making my back sweaty, and less trouble to worry about than a purse. The only downside is that it doesn’t have a place for a water bottle. I do have another hip pack that will fit a water bottle but that one doesn’t have as much storage.
As tourists we couldn’t miss walkling around Faneuil Hall. Dennis was able to get some sunscreen and Kuah and I watched a performer juggle knives. I wanted to get Kuah a t-shirt that said “Wicked Smaaht” but he declined. We did talk about all the ways you can use the phrase wicked pissah.
From there is was a stop by the Granary Burying Ground which was established in 1660 and has a lot of historical figures buried there. They had several tour guides in period clothes telling the history of the Granary but we just walked through on our own and then headed to the Boston Commons.
We didn’t stay long in the commons. I think we arrived there, walked a bit but then weren’t sure what to do there next. We also new if we waked in more we would be getting farther from our final destination and Mira was already a champ for walking as much as she had been.

Our final stop in Boston was the North End. Mira was enticed to go there by the promise of Mike’s Pastry shop. There Mira got a slice of chocolate cake that she absolutely loved. I got a whoopie pie but was disappointed by the filling being vanilla cream instead of marshmallow. Dennis wasn’t able to try anything as they said all of their items were made with yeast. Most likely, it was more a case of them not wanting to spend too much time with a customer when there was a long line. I can’t believe that all of their cookies were made with yeast.
At that point we were all ready for a rest. So we found some benches in North End and sat to relax. We then looked online for a good restaurant for dinner and I made a reservation at Isabella restaurant.
Kuah and I broke off to get a bit more walking in. When we came back Mira and Dennis had just bought sunflower seeds to feed the birds. I asked them to sit away from me so I didn’t end up with any more bird germs.
Then we headed to the restaurant which was a 1 minute walk away. Kuah and I had stopped to look at the menu during our walk and found them to be very friendly. We were lucky that they had a good staff as I had accidentally made a reservation for 2 people rather than 4 people. The quickly set up a table for us and and we got ready to enjoy some homemade pasta.

Dennis got a pene and chicken in a vodka sauce, Kuah got a spaghetti bolognese, Mira got pesto gnocchi and I had a shrimp scampi. Everyone really enjoyed their dishes except for me. Although my pasta was really good the sauce was a bit lacking in flavor. Some days you order well and others end up a bit disappointing.
Food aside, I really enjoyed spending time with family and walking around Boston. I love the mix of old and new architecture, being able to walk by the harbor or in the city center and as a bonus everyone we encountered was friendly.
